Social Security Issues

Social Security continue to be an essential source of income for many older Americans. This vital program has kept millions out of poverty for decades. And since his first campaign, John has spoken about the need to reform Social Security so it can continue to provide a safety-net for future generations.

If we are to keep the promise of a secure retirement to the next generation, we must renegotiate expectations with younger Americans today. John is open to comprehensive reform that could include a combination of: raising the retirement age for those just starting their careers, raising or eliminating the cap on payroll taxes for higher wage earners, and creating incentives for personal retirement and health care savings.
